There
are many types of
swing, but one of
the most popular is
East Coast Swing, a
lively American dance with
many turns and arm
variations.
Because
swing music can vary
so widely in tempo,
there are several
versions or
"rhythms"
of East Coast Swing,
which is also
sometimes called
Jitterbug.
Thankfully,
once you know a step
in one version of
the dance, it is
very simple to apply
it to the other
rhythms!
The
Single-Time Swing is
ideal for the
beginner student,
and for fast swing
music. Triple-Time
Swing is usually
introduced once a
student can dance
Single-Time
comfortably.
Triple-Time Swing is a
good fit for
slightly slower
swing music.
